Plant Characteristics :
Habit : Acaulescent rhizom-atous shrub
Habitat & Ecology : Terrestrial, Xerophyte, wild.Xerophyte
Occurrence : Throughout south-west Bengal (red laterite region)

Status : Inrequent
Botanical Character : Almost stemless perennial herb with strong rhizome. Leaves alternate, large, tufted, entire, thick, fleshy with a coating of wax and clustered at the top of rootstock; tip and the edges of the leaves are spiny. Flowering rare, gigantic racemose inflorescence borne at the top of a naked scape; flowers large, bisexual; perianth tube funnel-shaped, 6-lobed. Fruit globose; seeds many.
