Habit : Tree
Habitat & Ecology : Terrestrial, Wild as well as planted in the plains and the sub-Himalayan tract.
Occurrence : Available through out W.B., upto submontane regions.

Status : Abundant
Botanical Character : Medium sized or a big deciduous tree. Bark shallowly furrowed ; young stems with axillary sharp thorns. Leaves alternate, aromatic, trifoliate ; leaflets elliptic or ovate, lanceolate. Flowers, in axillary panicles, greenish white sweet scented. Calyx 4/5-lobed, free above, ciliate. Petals 4-5. Stamens numerous . Fruit globose or ellipsoid with a hard, woody, greenish yellow rind. Seeds many, embedded in mucilage and orange or yellow sweet pulp.
