Plant Characteristics :
Habit : Evergreen tree
Habitat & Ecology : Terrestrial, Grows in waste places, evergreen, semi-evergreen and deciduous forests as well as tropical himalayan region.
Occurrence : Found in rural areas and waste places through out the state. Occurs in forested sub-himalayan tract upto 1500 m.

Status : Frequent
Botanical Character : A deciduous tree with spreading dense crown, attaining 20 m in height, with straight bole and dark brown bark exfoliating in small round peels; young branchlets softly tomentose or villous. Leaves 10-30 cm by 6-20 cm, elliptic or ovate, alternate, thinly coriaceous, above glabrous or puberulous, lower surface tomentose and reticulated , young leaves sometimes serrate; nerves 8-12 pairs; petiole around 1 inch in length, pubescent, stipules short, lanceolate, pubescent. Inflorescence axillary, solitary, unisexual. Male flowers subsessile, orange yellow, pubescent; female heads shortly peduncled, oblong or globose, pubescent ; bracteoles clavate. Fruits 6-12 cm in diameter, syncarp, subglobose, shallowly lobed, surface pubescent, green, yellow when ripe. Seed many, oblong.
